|It’s important to come well-prepared. Not only for your own benefit, but also consideration for fellow attendees. The pace is fast and there is no time for stragglers who did not read the memo. Here is the list of essentials…|
It would be better to use a private email address, not one supplied by your company. Even if you do have your own private domain name, we suggest creating a Gmail address and use that. There is added reason to rather use a Gmail address. We utilize several products and services that are supplied via your Gmail account. If not already signed up please click here to create your free Gmail email address.
It’s essential that you have working accounts with these social media networks:
Obviously you will need something to go online with. Any laptop will do. The operating system does not matter, just as long as you can get to a web browser. Make sure the wireless function on your laptop works and that you have a recently updated anti-virus installed. If you don’t have a laptop, a sizable tablet will also work.
While a laptop would be better, a tablet is OK, as long as it has WiFi. Also, it needs to have the right browser. If you choose to use a tablet, please familiarize yourself on how to use everything before attending. It is a fast-paced workshop and the wrong time to learn the basics. Also, please remember to bring the tablet power supply!
If you don’t have a laptop nor tablet and really have to bring in your desktop, that’s OK. We understand that many folks who attend these events are there because they are out of work and/or want to make some money. No problem. Let’s get you up to speed and work towards a new laptop. When you bring in the desktop, remember all the power and VGA cables. We’ll supply the electricity point and network cable to get the beast hooked to the grid!
Whatever piece of hardware you bring to access the web, the most important thing is that it has wireless connectivity. Please check that function on your laptop or tablet. If you are lugging in a desktop, make sure you bring a wireless dongle and configure it beforehand with the correct drivers. If you are really stuck, please make prior arrangements with us for the necessary gear and/or wired network equipment.
It’s not all work and no play. If the event is being held near the sea, we hit the beach at the end of the day. Please bring your beach gear and comfy walking shoes. A stroll on the sand is a great way to unwind and network with delegates. Note: Even if there no beach nearby, we exercise anyway.
Please bring along something warm to wear for the walks. If you are going out on the boat for the sunset cruise, it’s advisable to bring along a good wind-breaker. There is nothing worse than being soaked by salt water, while sipping your cocktail. Of course there may not be a cruise available at every event, but bring something warm anyway. We usually find something to do outside.
We don’t mind at all if attendees bring their products and services to events. Load up with leaflets, brochures, samples and whatever. Attendees are from every walk of life and the chances that you will find many suitable clients and/or potential business partners. We do of course reserve the right to reject anything unsavoury. No tobacco products, and stuff not family friendly.
The events are really all about the meeting of like-minded people. Productive networking is encouraged all the time. Please bring along your A game and winning sales pitch. Put your best foot forward and make the most of the event. Thank you for keeping it ethical and professional at all times.
